Sweet & Simple

Today, I want to share with you a couple of sweet & simple layouts using the Penelope collection by Elle's Studio.  As a scrapper who likes to add a lot of layers and embellishments to my layouts, I found that there was really not much that needed to be added with these layouts as the papers are already so detailed. They made for a couple of quick and easy layouts featuring some of my favourite kids.
There are so many sweet saying on this piece of background paper that I really wanted to showcase it on this layout.  Adding a bit of the graph paper helped to ground my photo and journaling, so as not to lose any of their details.

I hand cut these hearts from one of the sheets and added some 3D foam dots to make them pop.

One of my favourite things about Elle's papers is the printed tear strips, they make for fun extra elements to add to your page.  Both the star and scalloped strips here, are just extra little tear strip pieces.

Next up, I wanted to use this pre-printed background sheet. I added a piece of patterned paper from the collection to the inside of a glassine bag to tone down it's boldness and get it to work with my chosen colours, and design.
Meet our little neighbour girl. She has 2 brothers and on this particular play date she snuggled up to Eden and exclaimed to her mother that she wished she lived with us so she could have sisters.  Little sweetie.

I thought I needed just a touch of pink on this layout, and the packaging from the little polaroid frames provided just the touch I needed.

Once again the tear strip from the bottom of this sheet made for the perfect touch on my layout.  Add a couple of buttons and baubles, and done.

I hope this encourages you to dig into your stash and revive an older collection while you wait too.  If you're all caught up and ready to get your hands on some new product, hop over to the Paper Issues shop, where you'll find all sorts of new goodies waiting for you including Lawn Fawn dies, and papers Kelley Purkey's Second City Collection, and Crate Paper Notes & Things, with more arriving all this week.
Thanks for stopping by today friends!

Going Simple with Scraptastic

The I Found A Boy Kit at Scraptastic Club sold out pretty quickly, and I can show you why.  I have a couple of layouts to show you today.

I decided to try something a little different this month and go a little flatter than usual with my Augusts kits.  For this first layout, I really wanted to use a design that incorporated almost all of the patterned papers that came in the kit.  I just love the way they all coordinate so well.  Zero journaling on this one, which is a little different for me, but I thought the title and the photos were really all this layout needed.

For this layout I used mainly the I Found A Boy Add On Kit.  I thought it would be fun to cut up this sheet and stick the squares back in place to add depth to the "flatter than usual" design.

Journaling reads: "It was a little disappointing when our VACATION turned into a STAYCATION.  We made the best of it, by taking the girls to do things we wouldn't normally like Wall Climbing and getting their first pedicure.  August 2013"
I used the stamp form the Classy girl kit to emboss onto a scrap piece of cardstock in the centre of the photos.

See, pretty simple, but still gets the story recorded, and in an even faster time frame than I'm use to.  These kits are so jam packed with product that I've made 4 layouts, and two cards.  I even combined a bunch of the bits and pieces with my This Life Noted kit to create 2.5 spreads.  I have so enjoyed working with these brighter, bolder, more masculine colours.  The stamps are great too.  It appeared at first that the kit had a more masculine bent to it, but once I started working with it, it became increasingly clear that the colours were great for many of the photos I had ready to be scrapped.

I'll have the rest of my projects to share with you soon.  In the meantime hop over here to the gallery for inspiration from the rest of the Scraptastic DT and our members.  You can follow along with the blog here.

Today's Story

Happy Sunday friends.

How about a quick share before I leave for church this morning?

I picked up Alison Kreft's new collection for Echo Park called Today's Story.  The papers were designed for Photo Freedom, a line specifically made to make documenting the everyday a little easier.  Journal Spots, and photo mats have been creating to simply snip and fit directly into the 4x6 or 2x3 page protector sleeve.
I picked up that heart doily at my local bulk foods store.
The arrows and "you" were cut using the Silhouette Cameo
I created this quick, simply, and clean layout of my baby.  Although she's not so little anymore. This was just one of those photos taken on the spur of the moment as she was standing near a window looking like her beautiful, sweet self.

Thank for stopping in, and having a peek.  Hope this finds you ready for Christmas morning, and enjoying time with friends and family. Pin It
