Date Night Mini Album

It has been a while since I created a mini, and this one was so fun, it made me wonder why I don't make them more often.  I used several elements from the American Crafts DIY2 collection.
I really wanted to create a project that would incorporate all the "paper" elements in the collection into one.
The hubs and I love to watch our Winnipeg Jets play, and are fortunate enough to have tickets to see them play live several times throughout the season.  With the kids heavy Dance schedules taking up so much of our time, we really value these few date nights throughout the winter to do something just the two of us.

At a recent game.  I had snapped a few photos and thought they would make a cute little mini album.  I often think of a mini as having to be to commemorate some special occasion or event, when really it's simply a collection of photos possessing the same theme.
In my mini I've used the 12x12 burlap, the dictionary paper, the black dot burlap, the kraft tags with gold glitter, the gold foil dots on black cardstock, and a few other co-ordinating American Crafts products.  You can get your hands on the DIY2 collection in the Paper Issues shop.  Use my code and save yourself 20% off everything in your shopping cart.

Playing with Serendipity & Free Cut File

It seems like forever since I've played with Dear Lizzy, but the Serendipity collection was beckoning to me with it's pastels and soft happy tones.
The colours work so well for these engagement photos of my niece and her now, husband. I can see them working well for birthdays, and other celebrations also, with all the goodies included in the ephemera package.

I used the 6x6 pad for both of my layouts.
I then pulled out my Silhouette Cameo to do most of my work for me.

This cut was created by Jen Chapin, I used my sewing machine to attach it to my layout and create a little dimension to the cut itself.

This next layout is a simple design using mainly layered two sized circles.

I created a tag trio to use with these layouts, and thought some of you might appreciate having them in your stash also

You can get this file for FREE in the Paper Issues Shop under free files.  If you fancy a little shopping while you're there you should use my code at checkout, it will save you 20% off everything in your cart.

Hope you've been inspired to create something beautiful.

Plus One

I have a couple Amy Tangerine Plus One layouts to share with you today.

It seems this guy seems to making his way into my pages a lot these days.
I normally go for softer, less bold patterns in my scrapping, but it was fun to break out of the box and try my hand at these bold designs.

The cute Lucky flair was one of the goodies in the Paper Issues March Swag Bag.  You can check out the April Bag here.
Isn't that puffy cloud adorable?

For this layout, I used a B side for the background, and added pops of colour to the rest of the layout.  The photo is one that was taken a couple of summers ago when we enjoyed a week long "staycation" (someone, may or may not have forgotten to renew her passport in time to go across the border)
I really liked the water colour splotch on the bottom of green and yellow, and tried to replicate it toward the top of my photo using a little mist.

The alphas originally purchased were the white ones in the collection, but I needed yellow to work with this layout.  It was super easy to simply paint the alphas with my yellow mist and a foam brush.

The puffy sticker set comes with 27 sweet designs.
You can find them, and the rest of the Plus One collection in the Paper Issues shop right here.  Feel free to use my code:SHERRI to  save yourself 20% off your order.

Happy Hump Day friends!

On Pointe

I created a couple of layouts for Paper Issues this week, and want to share them with you all.

Have you seen the new Dear Lizzy release yet?  I just love how super girlie it is.  Being that I have 3 of them, I had no trouble putting it to good use.
Isabelle started taking Pointe this year, and I just love the way she looks in those beautiful satin shoes.  What little girl doesn't think a ballerina is the most beautiful woman in the world?  It doesn't change much as you get any older, I'll be honest.  Belle isn't thrilled that I'm sharing this photo of her, as she's embarrassed that her pointe isn't very good.  Being that I really know nothing about Dance besides what time to get them there and how much I pay for it, I think it looks gorgeous, and therefore deserves a spot in our albums.

I couldn't resist adding that stitched ampersand by Amy Tangerine.

I struggled between both wanting to hoard these wooden buttons, and using every single one of them on this one layout.
I'll have another layout to share with you soon.  Until then how about a sneak of one of my Maya Road layout coming to the Chic Tags blog next week?
The product swap between Chic Tags and Maya Road was pretty fun, and I can't wait to show you what I've created.

If you're looking to get your hands on the Daydreamer Collection, or even the woodgrain cardstock you see in this last sneak, both are available in the Paper Issues store.  Use code: SHERRI and save yourself 20%.

Thanks for popping by today friends!

Creative Scrapper Reveal

Another reveal to share with you on this lovely Sunday.
This week I used the Fancy Pants Designs Be Loved Collection. The papers were perfect for my photos of the girls "Looming" their hearts out over the winter break.
The journaling reads "Christmas toy of the season: Best $20 I've ever spent.  These two spent hours and hours combining colourful elastics to create cute bracelets.  It was so nice to see them enjoying creating together.  The gift was actually Eden's, but we got her lots and lots for elastics so she would have an easy time sharing.  Théa has since informed us that she would like "her own" Rainbow Loom for her upcoming birthday in March.
Used some Dear Lizzy puffy stickers here with some pop dots for dimension.
How adorable is this cluster?  That xo Fancy Pants tag, the giant wood veneer star (from the December Chic Tags kit, and that sweet button from A Flair For Buttons.  I love embellishments that so easily combine with pretty much any scrappy style.

And here is Kristine's great sketch

Picture Perfect

Happy Friday Friends!

This week I celebrated my one year anniversary with Chic Tags.  And thought it would be fun to document the occasion using our brand new Happy Place Collection, and a photo from my CHA experience.
I was fortunate enough to be able to use some frequent flyer points to fly down to Vegas for the event. It was like a dream come true meeting Veronica in person, and helping out in the booth introducing CHA goes to Chic Tags products, and meeting so many great people from all around the world.  An added bonus was meeting fellow DT member Malika and connecting with several Instagram friends in person for the first time, like Chiao Tan pictured here.

One of the biggest hits with our new collections is the clear tags.  I've used 2 on my layout and adhered them both by holding them in place with just a teeny bit of adhesive, and them sewing around the inner border.  Love the way it turned out.  I used this idea of "happy" to create the design of my layout.  To me, all the circles give the layout a happy feel.

The Happy Place collection includes 8 - 3x4 journaling style cards, perfect for both traditional layouts, and project life style scrapping.

I think my favourite thing about the new collections are these mini icons, and the perforated strips at the bottom of the 12x12 papers.  I love the little sayings and sentiments, and the fact that they are pre-set to different styles, like this "good times" one shown here.  All I had to do was use some 3D foam dots to pop it off the page, easy peasy.

Hope you've been inspired to create something great today.  Come back on Sunday for our next Creative Scrappers reveal.   Have a wonderful day friends. Pin It

Oh Baby!

Did you know that Chic Tags has some really cute baby themed tags?  They are part of a recently released collection called Oh Baby!  There is a pink line for girls and a blue line for boys.  It's been a while since I have heard the pitter patter of little feet in my home, but I just had to use these sweet tags on a layout.

This is where sweet, sweet Ella comes in.
This little lady sure knows how to light up a room.  She's so intelligent, and cuter than a button.  Her mom sent me this adorable photo of her loving her new pink tutu, a perfect match for the Oh Baby! collection.

Because I didn't really have the exact shade of pink in any of my patterned papers, I decided to go with a variety of pinks, mixed with some black, white, and off white.  I really like the end result.

If you know my scrappy style, you know how much I love office supply tags.  How cute are these Oh Baby! ones, shown here tucked behind the "Sweet Baby Girl Icon"

That super cute chevron card is also form the collection

See that circle/star cut file?  It's a Chic Tags cut file, you can grab it yourself for FREE right here.

I many no longer have babies to raise, but I am not going to let that stop me from using the adorable Oh Baby collection.

Hope you feel inspired to create something beautiful today!

So Totally Me

I love taking a sketch and making it my own.  And that's exactly what I did with this week's sketch at Let's Get Sketchy.
I used the brand spankin' new BasicGrey Hipster Collection to create this one.
I loved the line so much I purchased the wood veneer embellishment package as well as one of the sticker sheets.
I fussy cut some of the flowers from one of the sheets of paper and layered them one atop the other for a better cluster look.  I also stitched my banner together placing a few My Mind's Eye enamel dots in the tiny spaces.

The photo is a selfie I took on the first really cool day of Fall.  I pulled out my comfy sweater and my hat, and spent the day in my craft room, ignoring the cold.  Journaling reads "Kinda love the first cool day when I can pull out the comfy sweater and hat".

And this is what the original sketch looked like.
You can see that there are definitely similarities between the two, but it's not an exact replica.  To see how the other designers used the sketch, and link up your own take for a chance at this month's sponsored prize hop over here.

And in case you missed it.  I offered up some freebie Cameo files yesterday.  You can grab yours here.

Have a wonderful Monday, and Happy Memorial Day to all my US readers.  May you spend the day enjoying the freedom that was so hard won for you. Pin It

Blogapalooza Style!

Welcome to our Hop!

Chic Tags has teamed up with Media Butterflies to bring you a fantastic blog hop today.   There are many, MANY prizes and FREEBIES up for grabs along the way so be sure to visit each blog along the way.  It all ends at the Chic Tags blog, with  one amazing grand prize.  Veronica is so incredibly wonderful, and gracious, and she is extending that in a big way to one lucky hopper this week.  If you have arrived here from Corinne's blog then you're on the right track.  If this is your first stop on our hop, you'll want to go back to the Chic Tags blog to get your line up and follow along.

I have a layout using the recently released Road Trip Tags to share with you today.  The collection is perfect for all the photos I have of our recent trip to Calgary & Banff, Alberta for Spring Break.

I captured this shot while riding the gondola up Sunshine Mountain for the first time.  It's always so peaceful in the gondola.  There are barely any words spoken as everyone is always taking in the awe inspiring beauty of the magnificent snow capped mountains, the tall, full, beautiful spruce trees, and the glorious sunshine streaming all around.

Despite the breath taking beauty there is a small bit of fear and anxiety as I anticipate the huge, steep hills that both terrify and electrify me at the top.  Journaling reads: I'm always a mix of excitement and anxiety as we go up the gondola.  So much beauty all around - but such big hills await."

To achieve that 3D effect on the Number Tag, I simply fussy cut out the arrow and used 3D foam adhesive to pop it up in the same spot it was cut from.

How about a giveaway?  One lucky winner from my blog will win themselves a package of Chic Tags recently released Birthday Cake collection.
Simply leave me a comment, along with your email address, and I will draw a winner on Thursday at 11:59PM EST.  All winners will be announced on the Social Media Butterflies blog on Friday, May 3rd.  Good luck!

Your next stop along our hop is Ellie.  Thanks for stopping by today, and playing along with us. Remember there are several prizes, and freebies along the hop, so be sure to stop at every blog along the way.  Happy Hopping friends!
