Today

We have a brand new issue up on the Paper Issues blog today.  It's "All About The Face".
I decided to get a little introspective and use a selfie from earlier this summer and document my feelings about where I'm at emotionally at at this stage in my life.  I used the gold metal Tab Clips from the Crate Paper Poolside collection to represent my age.

It's All About The Face: macro photos, portraits, school pictures, team photos, selfies, funny faces, close ups, bad photos, vintage photos, IG photos, etc., use August printables
$20 PI gc
http://paperissues.blogspot.com/2015/08/new-issue-its-all-about-face.html

There is just something about most of the Crate Paper Collections that gets my mojo going.  Layouts are so easy to create when the papers and embellishments work together so nicely and are created using a colour palette that I naturally gravitate toward.
The layered embellishments and wood enamel pieces were perfect for clustering around my photos.

I hid some additional journaling that was a little more private on the tiny pink shipping tag.

Here I mixed in some stickers from the Poolside collection with a flair button from A Flair For Buttons.

We would love to have you link up with us on this issue.  It's not just selfies that would work for this issue either.  Hop over to the blog post to see all the other ways you can link up.  There is also a ton of inspiration there to jump start your mojo.  You could win yourself a $20 gift certificate to the Paper Issues store, just for linking up.

Poolside Fun

I am up on the Paper Issues blog today with a few DT friends showcasing the gorgeous new Crate Paper Poolside collection.

I was so happy to get this collection in the mail the same week as by baby girl's birthday. I knew I was going to have a little photo shoot with her and her friends, and that this collection would compliment the photos nicely.

I have a handful of fun photos from Eden's birthday that you are sure to be seeing over the next little while.  I love that her birthday is in June, she's the only one that gets outdoor photos when her special day rolls around.

Whenever a collection has several elements to it, I cannot help myself for layering away to my heart's content, incorporating a little bit of everything.  On my layout I've used the gold glitter vellum, the 6x12 accent sticker pack, several elements from the ephemera pack, included the word "fun", two of the gold metal tab clips, and a couple of wood buttons.

See what I mean, Summer in a collection.  There are actually a number of fabulous Summer collections out there, this just happens to be my favourite at the moment. Some others you may be interested in are stocking up on through the Paper Issues store are:
Fancy Pants - Summer Sun
Fancy Pants - Making Waves
Simple Stories - Summer Vibes
Kaisercraft - Fiesta
Pink Paislee - Citrus Bliss

And that's just to name a few.  Once you've got some Summer memories you're ready to start preserving Paper Issues has got you covered.

I love this Smile

I've got the spotlight on the new collections by Crate Paper on the Paper Issues blog today.

My layout, is based on top of one of my favourite types of cardstock.  The Tinaldo woodgrain is so luscious, I reserve it for only the best patterned papers.  Craft Market is one of those collections.
I used my silhouette to cut both my sentiment, and the petals out.  The über talented Paige Evans is the brain behind that fun flower design.  I used it to built my layout around using several items of the ephemera package.  The chipboard numbers on my page are from this package, are yet another thing I am going to have trouble using, once again it's the floral pattern that's getting me.

I promise you really should pop over to the Paper Issues blog to see what some of the super talented DT put together using some of the other collections, you will not be disappointed!

One manufacturer, so many beautiful options for all your crafting.  It's time to pull out these gorgeous papers you've been hoarding and get crafting.  If you're still looking to get your hands on some of these beautiful papers and embellishments hop over to the Paper Issues store and get yourselves some.

Happy crafting friends! Pin It

My Canine Assistant

Meet my office buddy, Cybil.
She's more of a nuisance, than an assistant, but it's all in love.  My office is also the home of my boss (office on the main floor, living quarters on the second floor), so we get the constant company of this female Great Dane all day long.  When she's not following us around the office, she is either gazing longingly out the window at the passersby, or sitting near us, like this.  That teddybear is her most prized possession, she just loves to cuddle with it, sucking on the ear, lolling herself to sleep.

I created a little pocket backing a piece of cardstock against this gorgeous piece of Crate Paper patterned paper to hold my journaling tag.

Isn't she cute?  Perfect way for me to use up more of these ephemera pieces from the Crate Paper Oh Darling collection.
Those little Maggie Holmes Open book bows were too cute to not include on this girl themed layout.

I am playing along with the Hip To Be Square Issue over at Paper Issues.  The Issue is being sponsored by the lovely Shelley Haganman.  There are all sorts of way you can link up I went with square photos, and a square design, as well as using {a flair for buttons} flair pieces.  Hop over to the Paper Issues blog to check out the Issue details and link up your own creation.

Everyday Valentine

I am up on the Paper Camellia blog today with this layout featuring two of the sweetest seniors I know.

I snapped this quick pic of my in-laws on the little train that travels the Wildlife Sanctuary in Busch Gardens.  A quick and easy layout using the February Main Kit.  I just loved the combination of Crate Paper, and We R Memory Keepers papers in the kit.

I grabbed this freebie Silhouette Cameo cut file by Nicole Nowosad and set to work combining several of the fun elements in the kit.  Easy Peasy.  I just love working with kits, takes all the thinking out of combining all the different elements you want on a page.  Ria has such a great eye, and always offers the latest and greatest in scrappy product.  Her kits are excellent value for the price.  Hope over to the blog to see detail shots and read a little more about how this layout came together.  If you are ready to get your hands on this quality goodness month after month, hop over here to get your name on the subscription list.

Thanks for stopping by today friends.  Be sure to pop back tomorrow, I have a super exciting bit of news to share. Pin It

The Month of Love

It's reveal time at Paper Camellia.  February is of course, the month of love. Filled with products from Crate Paper and WeR Memory Keepers, this month is sure to offer many options when documenting the many loves in our lives.

It was obvious that the number 1 person in my life be the one first documented.
I love being married to this man.  We are far from perfect together, and still have the odd mis-communication here and there, but there is no one I'd rather journey this life with than him.  He keeps me sane, he makes me laugh, he is a wonderful dad to our girls, and he's such a great example of the man we hope our girls end up with someday.

I just love ephemera and sticker packs, they are perfect for popping off the page, or layering into your mix of patterned papers.  And how gorgeous are those gold foam stickers?
That sweet little tag came in my kit already dressed up with those teeny tiny hearts, all I did was use the ribbon from the kit, add a glue dot, and voila, super cute embelly.

See how much depth you can get just by adding a little bit of 3D adhesive?  I kind feel I may need 1 or 2 more packages of those alphas, they are the perfect size and font for my style.

The Main Kits are already sold out (only took 1 day), but the Add On Kits are still available for purchase right here on the Paper Camellia blog.  If you're interested you should hurry as these will soon be gone also.

I promised you a winner to the giveaway I posted a couple of weeks ago.  And I have one for you.  I asked the hubs to pick a number between 1 and 25.  Lucky #3 is the winner of all the embellishments goodies from the January Main and Add On kits.  The colours go perfectly with this months kits also, making it a double win.
Congratulation to Charlotte Brochu!  Please contact me with your snail mail, so I can get your goodies out to you asap.  Thank you to all those who entered.

Moments In Between

I'm trucking along with my Moments In Between album, and have another week to share with you today.
 June 1-7
I focused on using up my Heidi Swapp, and Crate Paper ephemera packs on this week's pages.
I also added a few bits and pieces from a few Paper Issues Swag bags.  How cute is that bird clip?!  The October Afternoon label maker looking phrase on the top right is also from a Swag Bag.  Just like the ephemera packs they are jam packed with product.
In order to fill a few more empty pockets I created a couple of Silhouette cut files a while back. If you're interested you can download them for your personal use here on Dropbox.  To get your hands on some of those ephemera packages hop over to the Paper Issues store, and don't forget you save yourself 20% off your entire order by using code:SHERRI.

Ephemera Accents

I decided to challenge myself with my most recent layout created with the Scraptastic June kit. The challenge was to create a layout using zero patterned paper (with the exception of the background sheet), only the add-ons from both kits, and mostly the gorgeous ephemera Heidi Swap, and Crate Paper ephemera pieces.
Also added some washi tape from the Add-On Kit
One of the things I love most about the Crate Paper ephemera pieces is that they are opaque allowing you to use regular adhesive without the adhesive showing through, making them quick and worry free to adhere.
I think the Oh Darling bows are adorable.  The bulkiness of them, however scared me from using them on my layout.  The solution was simply to remove half of the clip using adhesive on the remaining side and sticking it to the layout that way, problem solved.
Adhering acetate pieces can be tricky.  Here I've used a couple different techniques you can see with the butterfly that I've layered the acetate one onto a die cut shape butterfly, allowing me to use regular adhesive once again to adhere it to the page.  With the acetate pieces I used brads to adhere them to the page.  Efficient, cute, and effective.

These packs were so jam packed with pieces that I have a ton left over, despite using so many on this one layout.  I'm hoping to incorporate more of them into my Moments in Between Album.

Sweet Saturday

One of my favourite things about Saturday morning (aside from sleeping in of course), is enjoying my morning coffee with the hubs.  No lunches to be made, no grooming that needs to get done, and no one rushing out the door.  It's a sweet little habit that I thought worth preserving for years down the road when we look back on this life we're building together.
I grabbed Crate Paper's Oh Darling 6x6 pad, the ephemera pack, and some of my favourite {aflairforbuttons} pieces and set to work.
The ephemera pack is jam packed with so many bits and pieces, my favourite way to embellish.  These bingo card style letters were some of my favourites.  I used the word "sweet" to help create my title by popping them off the page.

See that strip of turquoise on the left, and that strip of yellow on the top?  They are both just tear strips from the actual 6x6 sheet.  So fun to have a little extra happy on the top of each sheet.

So many great pieces to layer, and layer.  The flair buttons are from my stash.

You can get your hands on the Oh Darling 6x6 pad and several other coordinating embellishment pieces from the collection right here in the Paper Issues shop.  Use code:SHERRI at checkout to save yourself 20% off your entire order, and all US orders over $60 before discount qualify for FREE SHIPPING.

How I Love Them

This month's Feel Again kit and Add on Kit had so many bits and pieces in it that I wanted to come up with a way to use as many of them as possible on a layout.  I came up with a challenge for myself: to use only embellishment pieces to create my layout, no cardstock or patterned paper (other than my background).  Here is what I came up with.

As you can tell I failed on the "no patterned paper" thing.  I used a mask and some gesso to create the background on which to build my layout.  I then layered several pieces from the Fancy Pants ephemera pack, the Crate Paper clear tags pack, a couple of Fancy Pants tickets, some My Mind's Eye puffy stickers, and a few Echo Park cardstock stickers.

I was also itching to try out the Tim Holtz Distress paint and found a way to incorporate it here too, the bonus was that it doubled as adhesive for the wood veneer pieces.

In order to add a little more definition to the acetate heart I used my sewing machine to stitch it to the layout.  Once I finished adding all the pieces I wanted to the layout, it somehow seemed unfinished.  After leaving it for a bit I realized that it need just a little more colour and definition, hence the addition of just a touch of patterned paper on the edges.  So I didn't fully complete my challenge, but I did manage to use up several happy little pieces.
This second layout is a photo of my hubby that he had to have taken for his job.  They wanted a headshot to put on their website, and to use for their PR Press Release introducing him, and outlining his new role for the company.  I thought it would be fun to scrap the photo, as I'm sure one day we'll look back at it, and talk about how young and professional he looked (snicker).

Because it's a masculine layout, and one in which I really wanted to keep the focus on the pic (and less on the awesome scrappy product), I kept the embellishments to a minimum.

I used my Silhouette to create a cut file to use as a background, as well as my title, I then added a little flair to the edges by hand stitching. (the paper clip heart and chalkboard flair are from my stash)

This Elle's Studio cards worked nicely to record my journaling, and hide behind the photo. Hiding the journaling helps to still record the story, while keeping the layout clean.  Two different layouts, two different approaches.

Sketchy Thursday

It's that time once again at Scraptastic.  Susan created a fun sketch for us to work with, and the October Kit made it super easy and quick to create a layout for it.
I used a fun freebie cut file created by Juliana Michaels as my mat.  You can download the file here.

Here is the sketch that Susan created for us this month.

Isn't that wood veneer card so cute?  It's actually from the This Life Noted Kit, I really wanted to save it to use in my Moments In Between Album, but it just looked so great on this layout, that I had to use it.
Love these oversize letters from Fancy Pants.  I thought sanding them up a bit would be a nice touch to this layout.
The Never Tear Us Apart stamp set is awesome, I especially love the hearts.  I used gold embossing powder to create this one.

So many great products in this kit, I'm just itching to play with it some more.  You can check it out for yourself here.  Playing along with the sketch could win you a $20 gift certificate to the Scraptastic shop.  You can check out what the rest of the dt created, and link up your own creations here.

August Colour Suite

Thought I'd share the first of two layouts I had up at the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog last week.
This is Angela, one of my dearest friends on this earth.  We don't get too many photos together that we both love, so this one we got during our brunch date last month: of course had to be scrapped.
I used the summery colours of the  August Colour Suite Challenge to create this layout.

Lots of layered goodness, of course.  I just love the ephemera pack.

The "enjoy" is a Heidi Swapp cut file.  That I offset quite a bit, and tinkered with the keep the proportions right in my Silhouette Cameo.  I then used 3D foam squares to pop if off the page right on top of the photo.

This layout has quickly become one of my all time favourites.  I just love the way the colours, and all the design elements work together so perfectly.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave me a comment, and I'll be sure to stop by and leave you some love at your corner of the web too.
