Halloween Throwback

I've been meaning to share these layouts for a couple of weeks.

These photos are from last year's Halloween, as is the Bella Blvd Halloween Magic collection.  I stored them for a full year without putting them to use.  Better late than never as they say right?

Théa wanted to go as a Biker, but I thought her outfit looked more like a Rocker than a biker (plus of course I hope to not see her on the back of a motorcycle anytime soon, lol)

I saw this amazing stitching technique done by the amazing Paige Evans, and just have to give it a shot.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to draw the star with white ink onto the patterned paper and then covered it with folded strips of the coordinating patterned papers.

This next layout was created for the "Orange" challenge at our last Paper Issues on-line crop.
My nephew's costume was the perfect springboard for it.

The rest was easy to pull together drawing on all of the orange stickers and papers in the collection.

As much as I love layered, and stitched goodness, sometimes plain and simple fills me with just as much joy.

They're So Fancy

Happy Monday friends!

What a busy, but fun-filled week we just had.  Despite the drama that has been our lives these past several weeks, Darwin and I have been having a lot of fun together, but it's been keeping me out of my scrap room.  It's funny how the tough stuff really does bring you together.

Speaking of fun, yesterday afternoon was exactly that for me.  I got into my scrap room for the first time all week, I pulled out this layout that I had started, live streamed the Winnipeg Jets game, and spent the afternoon locked away, scrapping and listening to hockey.  It may be hard to believe simply by looking at me, but there are few things, aside from being with the people whom I love the most, that bring me as much joy.
This layout was started a week ago.  I had the idea of creating a completely stitched background.  After some thought, I decided it would be more interesting to add bits of patterned paper to the stitching to provide some contrast and really show off the stitching.  I pulled out the Bella Blvd scraps I had from this layout, and set to work.

Next I grabbed an old DIY Shop overlay from Crate Paper, and attached it to my photo using a Studio Calico flag clip.

A couple of Fancy Pants tags, popped behind it all, one with a little bit of journaling.  Then, throw in one super cute owl flair button, and boom, done.

It has been quite a while since I've created a layout just for fun, and this one felt great.

Thanks for popping in today friends!

Creating With Sketches V3

It was a pleasure being asked to contribute to Kristine Davidson's brand new sketch book: Creating With Sketches Volume 3.  Her sketches so often pull me out of my comfort zone and lead to fun designs, I otherwise, would not have come up with on my own. Sketch #60 from this latest collection of sketches was no exception.
A new sketch, and a new sketchbook deserved a new collection to work with.  For the first time in a long time, I purchased some Belle Blvd papers to work with.  With the current changing of the leaves, and the scenery around me, I really wanted to create a Fall themed layout.  This collection has Spring written all over it.

My love addiction with doilies and tags, is still going strong as you can see.

These Jillibean sprinkles, like giant wood-backed enamel dots, are hoard worthy, I love them so much.  If you know me at all you know that there's not much I hoard.  I am a fan of only buying what I KNOW I'll use, and using it up on a couple of layouts, and then moving on.  So you know it's a great product when I don't actually want to use it all up.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the word fall out of some of the Bella patterned paper, and backed it with some scrap cardstock.

The Sketchbook has some really great sketches, and examples.  I have my e-copy, and you can get 10% off yours by using my code: V3SHERRI in Kristine's bigcartel shop here.

Go get yours friends, it's got so much insop, and if you've got a smartphone it's a great little resource to have on you when you're out at a crop.  Paper copies are also available. Pin It

SEM September Sketch Challenge

Scrapping Everyday Miracles September Sketch Challenge

Here is what you will be working with this month.  Isn't it great?  So glad Shimelle was kind enough to allow us to use it this sketch, it was fun to work with.
her blog
The Scrap Twist this month is to use a mixed alpha title.  Here is my layout.
I loved this quote I found online, and pinned it for use at a later date.  That day was when I printed out this photo of my then, new cute black flats.  A short...very short actually woman in flats...I know...counteractive...but I love 'em.  I don't spend a lot of money on shoes, rather I prefer to wait for sales, so I can have more at the same price.

Here is a close up shot of the journaling.

Have you been enticed to play along?  I hope so.  Participating in this sketch will earn you the chance at a fabulous card kit being offered up by our generous sponsor this moth The Card Kitchen.
May Kit - prize may not be as shown
You still have plenty of time to link up with Challenge #20 this month also.  Doing so will earn you a second chance into the drawing for our sponsored prize.

Remember all layouts must be linked up to the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog by Sunday September 30, 2012 no later than 11:59 PST.  Make sure to link directly to your post, and not just your blog, and don't forget about the scrap twist.

Happy creating.  And thanks so much for stopping by today!

♥ S.
