Silent Night

With the hustle and bustle of this team of year, one of my favourite things is to sit quietly with this guy, no tv, no music, and just the lights of the tree to keep us company.
I am glad he's such a cuddler in moments like this.

I used the cute new Wish Seasons to create this layout.  The ephemera pack, once again is my favourite.  So many great tags to choose from in all different sizes and shapes. And that striped paper, actually looks like it's been splattered with gold paint.  Gorgeous.  You can still get your hands on some of this collection in the Paper Issues store.  Use my code:SHERRI at checkout to save 20% off of everything you place in your cart.

Thanks for stopping by today friends, and a very Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Sunny Days

Meet Wilson, this guy stole our hearts the moment we laid eyes on him.
In a house teeming with females, my husband is happy that he is not the only male in the house, even if his partner is covered in hair and eats from a dish on the floor.

For someone who never thought she would own a pet, I sure like this little guy, and he has managed to make his way onto a number of pages in the family scrapbooks over the past 6 years.  Here, I used the fabulous boy themed Making Waves Collection (available in the Paper Issues store) to showcase this hilarious photo of him looking too cool for school in the shades. I'm all about spending more time creating and less time coordinating, and just love that Fancy Pants Designs collections come loaded with all my favourite things to use on a layout.  I never have to go digging through my stash to find journaling cards, buttons, or flair.

That fun cut file background was designed by our Fancy Pants Designs friend Ashley Horton, and can be found in the Cut Shoppe store.  I found that filling all the holes with coordinating patterned paper from the Making Waves collection took away from the main focus of my layout, and therefore chose to fill only a few along the left side of the layout.

Inspired by Pinterest

I recently found the coolest design on Pinterest, and was determined to try and recreate it on a scrapbook page using Fancy Pants products.

I grabbed these supplies, and set to work.

First, I punched out 14 squares using my Recollections 1-3/4" square punch.  I then used my distress tool to ink each edge.

I then lined them up into 4 rows, and added 3D foam adhesive to the sides in the row that touched, like this.

Throw on a few coordinating elements, add some journaling, and voila I've created a page that falls way outside of my proverbial box.

I am pretty pleased with the outcome, if I do say so myself.

I sure appreciate your taking the time to drop by today friends!

Groomed

Popping in to share a post I had on the Paper Issues blog earlier this week.

Have you seen the new Office Suite Collection by Fancy Pants Designs?  It was the perfect Spring collection.  Pastels and muted tones with fun and funk designs.
Who says those patterns are only good for girlie photos?  This photo of our family poodle Wilson was just far too cute to not use on this layout.

The coordinating package of patterned alphabets & numbers is great for titling your pages, here I saved myself a little space by using 3D adhesive to pop every second letter up off the page, allowing me to tuck the edges of the letter on each side under just a bit.
I added a little more definition to my letters by hand tracing them with a black sharpie.  Easy peasy!

If you know me at all, you know I am a sucker for a cute piece of flair and this set of flair buttons from the collection is awesome, and comes in 6 coordinating designs.

The package of labels from the collection is jam packed with all sorts of bits and pieces to tuck and layer to your heart's content.
You can see I like to layer mine in clusters.  I love that there are so many shapes and sizes included in one package.

I have also been playing with the Flutter Collection, the second CHA Winter release.  It is full of rich, but bright tones, like pinks, and yellows, and cream, and navy.

You can see all of the Fancy Pants in-stock goodies right here in the Paper Issues Store.

Note: That long arrow clip I used to hold the 2 journal cards together is by Freckled Fawn, and you can still get an assortment package of them here in the store.

I have a 30% off code for you, should you be in a shopping kind of mood.  Use code: SHERRI at check out, and save off everything in your cart.

Thanks for stopping by today friends, happy crafting!

Paper Camilla *Buddies* & A Giveaway

I have my last layout January Kit from Paper Camellia to share with you today.
This little guy managed to make it onto 2 of the 4 layouts I created with this kit.  Not sure if that means I'm loving hem more these days or I'm simply running this on photos to scrap.  He's so darn cute though, that scrapping his photos are pretty easy.

The January kit with all it's sticker sheets, especially the gold puffy words was such a pleasure to work with.  In order to not distract from the perfect colour combination of the papers and embellishments, I decided to print my photos in black & white.

That wood veneer frame was so cute, but I found the little sentiment just didn't work with where I wanted to place the frame on my layout; easy fix: flip it over.  Notice that gold polka dot paper?  It's a piece of the Webster's Pages Beautiful Chic vellum that was included in the Main Kit.  I loved that it was split up into 8 different designs on one 12x12 sheet of vellum.  It would be perfect for cards.

I added a mini supply tag from my stash, to record the journaling, and used a little strip of double sided tape to embellish it.

Interested in seeing what the January kit included?  Check out what you missed here.  And if you don't want to miss out on one more gorgeous kit (and we know they're gonna be awesome given all the goodness we've been seeing revealed at CHA2015).  Hop over here to get yourself signed up for a monthly subscription.

Today, as a little extra bonus, in celebration of my first official month as a Paper Camilla girl, I have a giveaway happening on Instagram and here on my blog for some of the embellishments included in the January kit up for grabs to one lucky person.
All you have to do is leave a comment here to be entered.  Be sure to leave me your contact info so I can be in touch if you win.
I will post the winner right on my blog on February 2nd, so be sure to pop back to see if you're the lucky one.  The winner will have 48 hours to respond to me, otherwise a new winner will be drawn.
Due to steep international shipping this giveaway is open to North America residents only please.  Thank you for understanding, and good luck to all who enter!

Paper Camellia January Sketch

My very first project for Paper Camellia was to work with the January sketch.  Kristine Davidson provided us with a fun one to kick off the year. I grabbed a couple of cell phone 'daughter selfies', and set to work.
How gorgeous is this Beautiful Chic wood grain paper, combined with the luscious gold of the Dear Lizzy embellishments?  And that gold title, it's foam!  I was curious how these gold words would look being foam and not chipboard.  I am a fan, so easy to work with, easy to peel away from the backing, and easy to re-position (especially for non commital scrappers like myself, hats off to all of you who use glue on your pages!)

This kid is forever grabbing my phone and capturing her silly moments with it.  I secretly enjoy finding these little treasures on my phone, they always make for fun scrappy pages. I chose to keep the journaling hidden, thinking that having 3 photos on the page would leave me little room once I added all the embellies that I wanted.  The tag peeking out add to the design and that fun little cluster and also holds the story behind the photo.

Here is this month's sketch.
Did you know that playing along with the sketch, and linking up to the Paper Camellia gallery here, or even the sketch blog post here could earn you a $10 gift certificate to the Paper Camellia shop?  We would love to see what you create.  And don't forget you can also share your work with us anytime on social media.  You'll find our Facebook Page here, and our Instagram account here.

Thinking about getting your hands on a Paper Camellia kit next month?  Hop over to this page and sign up now, these kits don't last long, January is already all sold out.

Thanks for popping it today friends.  I sure appreciate the visit! Pin It

Never Say Never

Our little Wilson may be the most spoiled Poodle around.  He is just another reminder in my life, how you should never, say never.  EVER.  I never would have thought that I would own a dog.  I didn't grow up ever wanting a pet.  But..... I am married to a guy who had a dog growing up, and have a few girls in my life who all wanted a puppy.  Needless to say when my sister-in-law's dog had puppies we managed to come home with one.

This little guy hasn't changed much in personality from when he was young amongst the litter.  The reason we chose him was because when all the other little pups were busy running behind us and nipping at our heels, he was just chilling, lagging behind, not really interested in nipping at anybody's heels.  He's still pretty chill, as a rule, except of course when the doorbell rings.  He's a very good listener, and knows several tricks he's happy to perform upon request, especially if you have cheese to offer in return.  But for the better part of the day he can be found right here, on our bed snuggled right up to the decorative pillows keeping warm and toasty.

How cute is that glitter heart paper by Shimelle?  You can get it, and several other items from her collection in the Paper Issues shop.  Use my code and save yourself 20% off your total order.

First Love

I was asked recently to complete a layout that had it's focus on journaling.  It's something that I try to incorporate on every layout, even though sometimes it may only be a quick line or two.
These photos I discovered on my phone of Belle with her baby provided a pretty great opportunity to get a story on paper.  We've had Wilson for 5 years now, and I don't think I have ever really documented how much he means to Isabelle.  Wilson has been such a gift to this girl of ours, I honestly think that he calms her, and tones down her "teenage moments" tendencies.  When she's had enough of all of us, she disappears into her room with him, and by the time she re-emerges all is right with the world again.

I'm really loving the look of text on vellum whether it's typed with my typewriter, or written in ink, I think I'm going to incorporate more of it into my pages.

These papers are mostly from the Fancy Pants Meology collection, with the flair from {aflairforbuttons}.  I love how there is always a piece that Shelley has designed that will go with what I'm working on.  Always!

Creative Scrappers Reveal #266

Wilson has been getting a lot of face time in my posts lately.  Here he is, again in my take on Creative Scrappers Sketch #266.

Here is Jenny's sketch.

You can see that I flipped the sketch and added my own touch to it just a little.  I loved the arrows she incorporated.  I used some Studio Calico veneer, and added a little coating of Perfect Pearls to shine them up a little and help them blend in with the background paper just a little bit better.

That transparency is from the Crate Paper Love Notes overlays pack, and I cut out and stitched circles of coordinating paper.  Some of my circles are peeking through behind holes I've cut into the cardstock, and some are raised with 3D adhesive, I stitched around all of them to give them a little more dimension.  Since the design didn't have a dedicated spot for journaling, I've added it to the largest circle grouping simply outlining the overlay with it.  Journaling reads "so cute the way he plays with his stuffie."

Once again, our sponsor is none other than my favourite kit club.  I should note that I used their February kit and Add On kit to complete this layout too.
Complete as many takes as you like on either this sketch or sketch 265 (revealed here), and link them up using the inlinkz tool on the Creative Scrappers site, and you're automatically entered to win.

Thanks for stopping by today friends, I always appreciate when you take the time to visit.

Plus One

I have a couple Amy Tangerine Plus One layouts to share with you today.

It seems this guy seems to making his way into my pages a lot these days.
I normally go for softer, less bold patterns in my scrapping, but it was fun to break out of the box and try my hand at these bold designs.

The cute Lucky flair was one of the goodies in the Paper Issues March Swag Bag.  You can check out the April Bag here.
Isn't that puffy cloud adorable?

For this layout, I used a B side for the background, and added pops of colour to the rest of the layout.  The photo is one that was taken a couple of summers ago when we enjoyed a week long "staycation" (someone, may or may not have forgotten to renew her passport in time to go across the border)
I really liked the water colour splotch on the bottom of green and yellow, and tried to replicate it toward the top of my photo using a little mist.

The alphas originally purchased were the white ones in the collection, but I needed yellow to work with this layout.  It was super easy to simply paint the alphas with my yellow mist and a foam brush.

The puffy sticker set comes with 27 sweet designs.
You can find them, and the rest of the Plus One collection in the Paper Issues shop right here.  Feel free to use my code:SHERRI to  save yourself 20% off your order.

Happy Hump Day friends!

Birthday Boy

It was sketch challenge day over at Scraptastic yesterday.  Susan once again gave us a great sketch to work with.

Mr Wilson celebrated 4 years a couple of weeks ago.  Isabelle thought he needed to have a cake, so she made him a "cheese cake" out of cheese slices (held together by toothpicks), and placed a candle in it.  Just love this photo of him licking his chops after getting a little taste of it.  The It's My Life kit and Add On kit was full, full, full of all sorts of great October Afternoon, and Elle's Studio tags, and if you know my style at all you'll know how much I love incorporating tags into my scrapping.
Some great stamps in this kit.

This is Susan's sketch.  So many photo placements and/or journal placement possibilities.
Hop over here to see what the rest of the team did with the sketch.  And you can go here  to get yourself set up for a monthly pizza box full of scrappy goodness.

Here are some sneaks of what coming next month.
Worth Wandering Kit
Let Me Go
This Life Noted
So great stuff for you all this month, and the stamps are pretty awesome too, especially the This Life Noted alphabet set.  I can't wait until my box shows up.

Happy Friday friends, hope you're in for a great weekend.  I'm more looking forward to next week, as we will finally be off for Spring Break.  If the weather would only begin to feel Spring-like we'd be very happy campers here. Pin It
