A Quick Share

I realized that I never shared this layout that I made for Cre8tive Cre8tions on the blog.  It is by far one of my favourite layouts ever.  The photos are nothing special, but were taken just before going for dinner to celebrate our 17 year anniversary.  Crazy that it's been that long already. 3 kids, 4 homes, 5 jobs, one dog, and a multitude of laughs, and a handful of tears.  And I would do it all over again.  I love this guy.  I love the life we've created together.  And I look forward to growing old with him.
I'm am linking this layout up at Paper Issues.  There current challenge is to use flair.  There are some amazing entries already, you should pop over and have a peek.  She's teamed up with Panda Eight Designs this month.  Martha's flair are seriously some of the cutest flair out there.  I'd love to get my hands on some.  They are the prize up for grabs, so wish me luck.  Either way, however I know a few scrappy peeps who would likely want to place an order with me.  Every since USPS raised the cost of International shipping, that's the only way to go if you want to order anything from the US.  It's too bad really.  But...sometimes you've just gotta have it!  Speaking of shopping, you should also check out the fabulous assortment of scrappy goodies that Cassie currently has available in the Paper Issues Etsy Shop.  So much variety, and really, really great prices.  Plus there's always 20% simply for using any of the design team's discount codes.  You really can't beat that.  Plus your goodies arrive with the most adorable packaging I've ever seen.  I've saved my houndstooth tissue paper for use on a future project.  Thanks for popping in today, hope you're in for a great weekend friends! Chic Tags Sunday Challenge

Seems like the week has flown by.  I won't lie, I kind of hope it continue so Spring will arrive faster.  The sun rising earlier and the temperature rising ever so slightly has me in good spirits.

I have a quick layout to share with you today.  Once again it is Sunday Challenge over at Chic Tags.  This week the challenge is to use a specific colour combination.

Here is my layout.
My sweet friends and their beautiful girl kindly allowed me to use one of their family photos this week. I just adore the expression on Ella's face.  The new collection by Prima totally fit the challenge so I grabbed this sheet with the honeycomb pattern all over it.

I added some grapefruit coloured Zing and embossed the chevron pattern over top.
The tag is covered with Martha Stewart modeling paste using a Crafter's Worskshop mask.  I think I may addicted to this stuff, can't wait to try more of it.  The title was made using my Silhouette Cameo.  I am so loving that machine, totally worth the price I paid.
Altogether I have four different Chic Tags products on here and a few other embellishments.
Hope you'll jump in and participate this week.  Veronica always has a great prize up for grabs.  You can see the colour combo and link up your own project here.

That's it for me.  I hope you are having a fabulous Sunday with the ones you love.  Thanks so much for popping in today!

Reminder, you still have until 11:59 CST to enter my Birthday Blog Hop giveaway here.  Good luck to all who enter. Pin It

January Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday friends,

Marjolaine provided Scrapping Everyday Miracles with her very first sketch challenge this week.  Here is my take on it.
That little tab at the bottom pulls out to reveal the hidden journaling.
Here is the original sketch
You can see that for the most part I worked with all the elements, but changed things around just a bit.  Rather than a circle I went with a rectangular shape on which to mount my photo.  This silhouette cut was a free one I discovered at Studio Calico provided by Kinsey Wilson.  (You can download the file here).  I was dying to use it so I pulled it out for this one.  I made the original cut on white card stock, and used the fabulous new Heidi Swapp Colorshine in mint green to colour the mask to better compliment the photo I was using.  Isn't that amazing coverage?  You've got to try her mists they are fantastic, and give a rich, intense colour.  Totally different from Mr. Huey's, not better just different.  I then moved the cluster along the edge to the other side, layering little bits and pieces rather than using the large square blocks.  I am in love with the finished result.  The twist on the challenge was to fussy cut a patterned paper.  There may have been a better way to cut the papers to go behind the mask, if so I don't know of it.  This baby took me a good while to cut out and cover.  A lot of Sookwang tape, and glossy accents at work here.

There is a great prize up for grabs this month.  It is not one, but two packages of flair from Paper Loves Glue.  They are super cute.

You can see what the rest of the DT did with the sketch, and link up your own creation here.  And incase you missed it the main challenge is here.  It's a call to scrap a "sad moment" in your life.  The DT had some really touching stories to share along with some great layouts.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope your week is off to a great start! Pin It
