Hello My Girl

It has been awhile since I played along with an Issue on the Paper Issues blog, and this one was worth the wait.  As you know I love kits, and this month I was happy to be included on this Issue as we have teamed up with Scrapbook Circle, using their March Main kit, March Printable, and cut files.

That acrylic Hello is my absolute favourite item in the kit, I based my entire design around that, and that super cute & whimsical background paper.

Just look at the detail on that patterned paper, it truly does look like I stamped all those details.  You should know me well enough by now to know how ludicrous it would be to give that idea more than a nano second of thought. That "enjoy today" is one of the  cut files from the kit.  I added a stitched circle to me design as I felt it helped to ground my design with so much going on, on the page.  The Janome  sewing machine that I won from Scrapbook and Cards Today last year had no trouble stitching right through the Pinkfresh wood veneer piece.

That great little kraft bag was part of the kit, and I added a kraft tag from my stash, on which to record my journaling about this photo.  It was a special little moment shared between Théa and I as she was waiting for her Tap Small Group session to being at Dance Competition a couple of years ago.  The cork pieces were another favourite from the kit.

Here is the March Main Kit in it's entirety.  So many great coordinating papers and embellishments, and it could be yours.

Simply link up to our Prints Charming's Beautiful Papers here on the Paper Issues Blog. As always, there are plenty of prompts to use to get the mojo going.  Your projects do not have to be new, and you may link up as many times as you would like.  One lucky winner will be randomly selected to receive this great kit.

And if you're in the mood for new scrappy goodies, there is much to be had in the Paper Issues store.  Did you notice that the new Fancy Pants collections are now available?  And then there's this super cute Kelly Purkey stamp, that is screaming for me to break open and get using.  No matter what you end up picking up, be sure to use my code to save 20% off everything in your cart.

On another note I have a scrappy secret that I've been keeping from you.  Actually I have two.  I can't even believe it.  I feel so blessed to be getting these opportunities, I'm giddy with excitement.  Both of them came from women I have high regard for in the scrappy world, and for who they are as women.  It is such an honor to have them request my scrappy capabilities.  Here is a sneak peek at one of the layouts
I can't wait to reveal the rest of it to you.  I don't think it will be too long before I'm able to let you in on the secrets, you'll just need to hang tight for a little while longer.

Have a great day.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Random Love

I've got nothing but bits and pieces left of Crate's Random line.  It was most definitely my favorite CHA release this summer. I'm hoping that I'll still be able to knock out a few more cards with the remnants.  I think this is the last layout I'll be able to create with it.
Théa said the tile of the layout should have read "Beautiful girls...and one handsome dog" lol.

Hope the week is off to a good start for you.  Thanks for taking the time to pop in today.

Happy 12th Birthday Isabelle

It was 12 years ago today, after 36 hours of painfully, exhausting labour that our first baby girl entered this world.  Today will be spent celebrating her, in all her beautiful, athletic, saucy, intelligent, funny, sarcastic, lovable self.  After church, it's lunch, then shopping with grandma, capped off with dinner out, and cake with extended family.  My life changed forever the day I discovered I was going to be a mother.  This girl has brought us so much joy in her short life.  Watching her grow into a fine young lady is a pure privilege.  There have been many tears, much heartache, and several moments of wondering if I am on the right track with the mothering thing to be sure.  It's a job I wouldn't trade for anything in the world, though.  It comes with the good the bad, and the ugly.  But all of that is secondary to the incredible way a child fills your heart to overflowing by simply existing.  I saw this quote on Pinterest recently by Rajneesh "The moment a child is born, the mother is also born.  She never existed before.  The woman existed, but the mother, never.  A mother is something absolutely new."  Happy Birthday my girl,  thank you for making me a mother.  I hope you love your day, and that twelve will be a sweetly fun year for you.

Created using Handmade: Studio Calico's November  kit.  Buttons, felt and pin from my stash.  This photo was taken last summer when we went to pick up Isabelle from camp.

Thanks for stopping by today.

November kit

Welcome to the weekend friends,

Week one of NaBoPo month is in the books.  Only four more to go.  I hope you've enjoyed your week with me.  Special thanks to those of you who have been taking the time to pop by daily.  Thanks so much for your support.

Photos of the upcoming November kit from My Scrapbook Nook were recently posted.  Everything you need for winter themed cards, layouts and other paper crafting projects can be found right here.  Did you know that if you sign up for 12 months your 13th month is FREE?  That's a great deal.  If you're Canadian, it's a great time as the dollar has been doing so well, the exchange is hardly noticeable on your credit card bill.
"Snuggle in for a late autumn carriage ride and give yourself to reflection. Explore the best times and seasons of your life, and give thanks for them all with this beautiful November kit! This kit is sprinkled with delightful trims, striking alphabets and all the best tiny details to help you capture the details about you!"

Included in the kit:
Echo Park Times and Seasons 12 sheets
Echo Park 12 x 12 Element Sticker Sheet, and Alpha Sheet
MME Ribbon Package and Pearl Bling
Maya Road Ledgers, Doilies, Flower Ribbon
American Crafts Glitter Alpha

Looks like another luscious kit.  Leah sure knows how to put 'em together.

And don't forget you still have a couple more days to get in on my giveaway.  I can't wait to show you what's up for grabs.

Thanks for popping by, have a great day.

Handmade

Studio Calico's November kit goes on sale tonight.  I love how each kit and add kits have names.  Let me introduce you to Handmade.  I'm digging the colour combo in this one.  And look forward to working with it.  It's out of my box, to be sure, for a girl who loves Create and My Mind's Eye whose lines are all neatly packaged as mix-and match with your eyes closes.  Studio Calico does a great job of keeping colours and themes together, but stretches you to be creative in how you pull it all together.  There are some really amazing designers on the team, who create fabulous projects.  The gallery is also full of fabulous layouts from talented members.  The forum is full of upbeat, positive and encouraging women.  You can be sure there's always fun conversation going on at any given moment of the day.  Here's a peek at what will be making it way to my door next week...
You can grab one for yourself after 8 pm tonight by going here.

If you're wondering about Day 3 of Handmade Holidays, it's coming.  The project is a biggie.  I probably spent longer in Michael's choosing my supplies, than I'll likely spend putting it together.  I've decided not to tell you what it is just yet.  Gonna keep you hangn' for a bit.

Have a great day friends.  Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Tidbits

Hooray for Friday!

I'm excited to be going to a scrapbook crop this weekend with the lovely Sharon from The Scrapbook Cottage.  For those who don't know, a crop is where a bunch of other paper loving peeps get together, with all their goodies and scrap to their heart's content for 2 days straight, only breaking for lunch, supper, and a snack or two.  There are a couple of layouts I have in mind, and, I want to put together a mini album of our little family photo shoot.  Really hoping I can get that done, I have a tendency to do a little more visiting and snacking, over scrapping at crops.  For those who know me well, I'm sure that comes as no shock to you insert sheepish grin here.

This arrived yesterday.
It was like Christmas.  I went a little crazy this month, but had $35 in credit so it was actually a great deal in the end.  I forgot to take photos of everything that was inside, before I packed it all away all neatly in my snappy new homemade crop bags.  Here's a peek at what's inside all those fabulous brown bags.
The Main kit: Field Guide, some chalks, ink, Mr Huey's in dark brown, Basic Grey flowers to go with the main kit, some extra sheets of vanilla cardstock, and a white pen.
And the icing on the cake...
Add on #4 Almanac: Amy Tan's fabulous mini album kit.
I also got my first ever grab bag.  It was stuffed to the bring with papers, and all sorts of fun elements for only $5.

And a little randomness to tie you over for a couple of days:

sand or snow?  the white sands of the Caribbean to be specific.
Urban or Country?  Urban during the school year, county during the summer months.
Shabby or chic?  chic.
Steak or chicken?  red in the summer, white in the winter.
Pepsi or Coke?  Coke.  Always.  No compromise.
Potatoes or rice?  Depends on the protein dish.
Convertible or caravan? Convertible for looks, but caravan for convenience.
Football or hockey?  Football all the way baby.
Hollywood or Broadway?  Broadway.  Hairspray, and Wicket top the list.
Coffee or tea? Coffee 99% of the time.  Tea if I'm not feeling well.
Sweet or salty?   Sweet.  A little everyday :)

Have a great weekend.  Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends.  Be sure to live with that kind of spirit alive and well this weekend.

Thanks for popping in today,

Kits

October is going to be a very creative month with two gorgeous kits on their way to me.  The fist is My Scrapbook Nook's My Mind'e Eye inspired kit.  Featuring a yellow, black, grey, and white colour combo.
Here is just a sampling of some of the embellies included:  Flowers, pins, journaling inspired stamps, ruffle trim, American Crafts alphas, and so much more.  Go here to get yours before they're gone.

Then there's this fabulous Studio Calico Kit.  Each month their kits get better and better.
Look at those butterflies, the alphas, the journal spots, and brads.  Can't wait.  SC also has coordinating Add on kits you can order each month as well.  They're packed with goodies, and ship for no extra charge with your main kit.  You really should check them out.  You can still grab a Main Kit for yourself here.  And these guys have the shipping thing down, even to Canada.  My kit only takes 4 days to arrive, and comes directly to my door via UPS.

Like I said, a happy scrappy month in store for sure.

♥ S.
