Moments In Between

I wanted to share with you how I used my June This Life Noted kit(sold out) to complete the week of May 25-31 for my Moments In Between album.
The kit was so great that I actually kept my pages pretty simple, unlike my usual use of several embellishments this time I kept the layout pretty flat.  I found that the colours and designs of the cards, stamps, and rub-ons really gave my photos all the pop they really need.
I actually like the change up from my usual style.  I did swap out just a couple of the cards from previous TLN kits for some that I had been hoarding for the "right" photos, that black and white one for example.  I love that card, and knew I wanted to use it with a photo of the hubs and I.
Kaitlin nailed that "this is magic" card when she designed it.  It's such a perfect fit for the photo of my baby girl with her Hip Hop Dance Scholarship.
I just love this arrow stamp from the TLN stamp set.
"Captured" is one of the fabulous rub ons by Chic Tags, they go on so smoothly that they actually look like part of the journaling card.
The envelope and the hot air balloon here are also from that same rub-on pack.  I also cut a slit around the top part of heart on that bottom right photo to add just a touch of dimension to my card.

I may be a little behind in documenting my everyday, but I'm not too stressed out by it.  Using This Life Noted Kits helps to quickly get my photos into albums quickly all while at the same time making my albums that much more fun to look at.

Hope you're enjoying the process as much as I am.  To start your own subscription to the This Life Noted Kits hop over here to see how to get yourself started.

Happy Saturday friends.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Moments In Between

I'm trucking along with my Moments In Between album, and have another week to share with you today.
 June 1-7
I focused on using up my Heidi Swapp, and Crate Paper ephemera packs on this week's pages.
I also added a few bits and pieces from a few Paper Issues Swag bags.  How cute is that bird clip?!  The October Afternoon label maker looking phrase on the top right is also from a Swag Bag.  Just like the ephemera packs they are jam packed with product.
In order to fill a few more empty pockets I created a couple of Silhouette cut files a while back. If you're interested you can download them for your personal use here on Dropbox.  To get your hands on some of those ephemera packages hop over to the Paper Issues store, and don't forget you save yourself 20% off your entire order by using code:SHERRI.

How To Make The Memories Last

Life sure has a way of getting full, and getting busy, and getting away from us doesn't it?  That is exactly how it has felt around our home for the past several weeks, ever since February to be exact.  The combination of going back to work part time, after 8 years at home, and 3 kids in 16 competitive dances with our Dance Studio made for a fun-filled, jam-packed, constantly on-the-go last 4 months.
My Moments In Between Album needs some serious catch up.  I decided that since I am 12 weeks off schedule that I would start with the most recent week, and work my way back from there.  Maybe.  Another thought I had was that, ultimately I would prefer to have each week chronologically documented in my album, but NOT if I start to feel burdened by getting it all done. I have all my photos organized and ready to go, but if I don't ever make it back the the 2nd week of March, I've decided that I am going to be okay with it.  Documenting our life as a family is so much more about "the moments in between" that it is about any rules I'm tempted to make about the process.
Left side
Here is a snapshot of our week: June 8-14, using craft supplies from the Scraptastic Club June This Life Noted Kit. From hijacked iPhone selfies, to Dance Recital and Year End carnival, a friend's Art Show for her students, to Eden's 11th birthday, and even a little home "tattoo" session, it's all here, documented to last.
The sweet encouragement note I received from my friend after performing with my Adult Tap group, just had to have a place in this weeks pages.
Right side
I intentionally include a lot of handwritten journaling in my album, I think it really adds a personal touch for those who may enjoy looking at these snapshots of our life long after I'm gone.
Adding details like stitching to my pocket pages makes them feel more like me, I like the dimension, and visual interest it adds, just like in my regular scrapbooking pages.
I love that Eden filled out her own "right now" card listing a few of her current favourites.
Because there was so much going on during this week, there were many photos to fit in.  To get them all in, I added a little insert (using some Simple Stories page page protectors) especially for Eden's birthday photos.
Not pictured here, is the second insert I added that hold the Dance Recital program from the last performance.  I think it will be fun to look back in a few years and remember the dances they did this year, and the friends with whom they performed.

It's weeks like this that make me wonder about putting together another Shutterfly photo book like the ones I did here, of our trip to Steamboat Colorado a fews years ago, and a Summer one I created back in 2009.
I've been thinking especially about putting together a Dance specific book. I literally have hundreds of photos from this year alone.  Three competitions, and 3 recitals in 2 months naturally result in a lot of photos of each of the girls in all of their Dance costumes, performing, and candids of them hanging out with their friends pre/post performance.  I really think they deserve a special place all their own.

I'll have more Moments In Between pages to share with you all soon.  Until then, thanks so much for stopping by today friends. Pin It

Moments In Between

It's been quite sometime since I've shared any of my pages here.

Here are the last two that I completed using the Scraptastic This Life Noted March & April kits.
Feb 16-22
A pretty ordinary week.  The Olympics were still on-going, the gold medal match between Canada and the US was quite something.  I thought for sure we were out of it, being down 3-0 with only 3 minutes to go.  But then a fire was lit and we managed to tie it up with seconds on the clock, and then took gold in overtime.  It was amazing, so, so proud of those girls, especially our own Jocelyn LaRocque from small town Ste. Anne Manitoba.
That Pepsi cup is a photo of a crayon drawing Belle did while we were waiting for our food out for dinner one night.
So many great embellies in this kit
March 2-8
Loved that funky alphabet stamp that came in the kit this month.
We celebrated Wilson's 4th Birthday with a "cheese" cake, and registered Isabelle for High School - WHAAAAT?!?

Those Evalicious puffy stickers are so fun.
There you have it, short and sweet.  Now, I'm really behind.  The good news is I have a ton of new product just waiting to be used up on the un-documented weeks.

How is your Project Life style scrapping coming along?  Love it? Hate it?  Still debating?  I may be behind, but I'm so not stressed about it.  Actually I kind of like it this way because now when I get new product,  I don't have to wait for my week to be over to use it, I have a few weeks to choose from.  I can just print and scrap.  I also think having the Selphy wireless printer is a HUGE help for this style of scrapping.  I almost never go to the photography center anymore.

Thanks for popping in today. Pin It

Creative Scrappers Reveal #265

This week you're in for a real treat, as Kristine created a sketch that could easily be used for either a pocket page layout, or a regular scrapbook layout.

Here is my take I went with the pocket page style to add to my Memories In Between album.
February 23 - March 1st left side
And here is what Kristine's sketch looked like.
You can see there were several elements that I was able to incorporate into my page despite there difference in pocket sizes.  And here is what I did with the right side of the page.

Here is the spread as it looks in my album.

This is a super fun reveal, because of the diversity of the sketch, I can't wait for you to pop over to the Creative Scrappers blog to have a peek at all the different interpretations.  I certainly hope you'll find the time to join us this month.  Our sponsor is none other than my favourite kit club
Complete as many takes as you like on sketches 265 & 266 (revealed in 2 weeks), link them up using the inlinkz tool on the Creative Scrappers site, and you're automatically entered to win.

Thanks for stopping by today friends, I always appreciate when you take the time to visit.

Moments In Between with October Afternoon

Sharing a post I had up on the Paper Issues blog yesterday.

I am fortunate to take over the bi-weekly Product Feature posts for Paper Issues.  It's a challenge to know what kind of products will get people excited as everyone has their "thing".  I decided to jump in with a technique that I used, and chose the manufacturer based on what I wanted to work with and went from there.  Here is the post I shared...

It's that exciting time of year when all the new CHA goodness we've been dying to get our hands on starts showing up in the Paper Issues store.  The brand new Snapshots, Girl Talk and All Boy collections by October Afternoon are already available for purchase.  But what to do with the bits and pieces we still have kicking around from the last release.  For me, that's where my Moments In Between album comes in. Although I often use various Project Life style kits to document my everyday moments, when I have scraps from a collection that I have loved, I find a way to do a spread using that collection alone (no pre-made cards at all).

I've done just that this week with several sheets of October Afternoon's Apple Cider collection, a package of Tin Pins, Pop Drops, coordinating Story Book alphas & label stickers, and the Inspiration roller stamp.  I threw in a few scraps of cardstock, and a handful of embellishments from my stash, including these, then used my Silhouette Cameo and sewing machine for additional visual interest.

Using a simple 3x4 piece of patterned paper with one single solitary embellishment is a great way to fill a pocket when there aren't enough photos, or just to create some "breathing room" on your page.

Without the help of pre-made cards I used the Story Book alphas, and label stickers to help me create some filler cards with quotes and journaling.  I may or or may not have ordered several colours of these alphas because they're so perfect for this style of scrapping.  You can see our selection in the shop here.  It's hard to pick up but I used my sewing machine to stitch along the chevron lines on that top card for a little more wow factor (you'll just have to trust me that it looks cool in real life).

Now if you don't have an issue clearing out the old to make room for the new, and you're just itching to get your hands on the new October Afternoon goodies here's a little eye candy for you.
I love the soft colours and fun ampersands on this sheet from the Girl Talk collection.

And then there's this awesome coordinating stamp set

And I'm a sucker for cute flair buttons any day.

All the fabulous October Afternoon products you see here, both old and new can be found in the Paper Issue store.  If you're in the shopping mood don't forget to use code:SHERRI to save yourself 20% off your entire purchase.
And, did you know that if you're in the US, any order of $60 (after discounts, and before tax) ships for free?  Sweet deal.

Moments In Between

I have almost completed my 2014 Moments In Between album.  All the photos and embellies are in place, but there is still some journaling to add.  I realized that I am way behind on sharing my pages though.  Here is the week of November 10-16.

Only after putting this post together did I realize that I messed up on the days.  Isabelle's 14th Birthday is captured in these pages, but her birthday is actually on November 20th (whoops).  But, I figure it doesn't really matter in the long run.  The dates and pictures lining up every single week is less relevant to me than the fact that the moments have been captured.  Of course I won't let myself get away with this kind of sloppiness every week, but every now and then it's bound to happen, and I'm not going to freak out over it.  I guess when you keep up to date, you're less likely to have it happen.
At this point of the year, I've begun mixing up collections to document the weeks.  I have a little Becky Higgins, and little Studio Calico, and a little Scraptastic Club all mixed up here.  I really like the colour combo though.

Sorry the blog hasn't been very active.  It's is very much a reflection on how I'm feeling these days.  I think I have the winter blues.  All this cold and snow (it's -40 Celcius with the windchill AGAIN today), and things at home being a little 'off' is just getting to me, and I find it hard to blog.  I've been sharing my dt work on the appropriate blogs, but my own has gone quiet.  I'm sure it won't stay like this, but I hope that for now, you'll please bare with me.

Happy Monday friends whatever is on your schedule for the day. Pin It

A little Moments In Between Share

Hi there friends, Surprise, I'm still recording snippets of our everyday lives here.  I've finally photographed some more of my Moments In Between album to share with you.

 November 3-9

Left side

Right Side
This was kept super duper simple.   Being 3 weeks shy of finising off 2013, I wa really tyring to keep things rather simple, but still me.  I used the Project Life Honey Kit to complete this week.  I've included a few things from our trip to Saskatoon with Théa for her Triple Threat Dance Convention, like a wrist bands, and our hotel room key.  I'm still enjoying the process, I would simply love more time in my week to be able to keep up to date, haha.

How about you?  Still working on your Project Life type memory keeping?  Jut creating for fun?   Don't forget about your chance to link up with our current Issue at Paper Issues, our current sketch at Creative Scrappers, and our current sketch at Chic Tags, there are some sweet prizes up for grabs from all.

Scraptastic Club's This Life Noted Kits

I have 2 Scraptastic pages to share with you today.  The first is from the October This Life Noted Kit
This has been my favourite kit to date.  I just loved the colours in this one.
I created that "love" frame on the bottom right using my Silhouette Cameo.
Notice that date card?  It was my favourite card in the kit, it has this cool linen look to it.  I also loved that like all of the cards in the kit  it is double sided. (all This Life Noted cards have BOTH landscape and portrait orientation)
I had originally glued the arrow to the wrong week on the card, but because it's double sided my error was quickly corrected simply by flipping card over and starting again.
My next page is using the November This Life Noted kit.
Another great colour combo in this one.
Used the stamp in the kit to create the hearts on that bottom left card.  Same with the zig zags, and tiny hearts on the cards below.

Pulled a couple of alphas from previous kits to complete my title, and secured all the alphas by stitching them to the cards.  Also pulled in a couple of pieces for the Home Add On Kit, and one tag from my stash on this page.
Using kits makes the documenting process fast and enjoyable.  I used to use just my scraps to create my Moments In Between album.  This is so much faster, as everything is already colour coordinated and prettied up for you.  All you need to do is add your photos (and if your like me a few ebellies too), and you're done.  You can see what's coming up for December's kits here.  They are Ah-Mazing, I can't wait to receive mine.  This is the first month where I could not decide which kit to go with, so I chose both :)

Have a great day friends, and thanks for stopping by!
