My Thankful Tray

Happy Friday friends!

Here is a project I shared over on the Scraptastic Blog earlier this week.  I have never done a Printer's Tray before, but knew I wanted to attempt it when I saw Jessica's fabulous Fall kit.

That "thankful" die cut was just begging to be used on this project.  The bling behind the cardstock sticker is one from my stash, as is the teeny tiny bling on the sentiment.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the Dr. Suess quote out.

I borrowed a card from the November This Life Noted kit to add to my tray.  I thought it was perfect for documenting the date of the photo session.

And here is how my first attempt at a printer's tray turned out.
please excuse the glare I was having trouble finding just the right spot, where glare, nor shadow would affect my photo
For more inspo on using the Home Main, and Add On Kits, you should pop over to the Scraptastic Gallery, both the dt and our super talented members have great projects to share.  And to see what's coming up for December hop over to this post, but I'm warning you, be prepared to have your socks knocked off, Jessica's put together more amazing kits to get your mojo going.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you're feeling inspired to create something great.  Oh, and you still have a couple of days to get in on my Hidden Element challenge, for your chance at a Scraptastic Shop gift certificate.  You can check out the challenge details here.

Have a wonderful weekend friends! Pin It

Moments In Between Pages

I used the Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic Project to document the week of October 20-26.  Went with more of a pinky brown colour scheme for the week.
The was the weekend of Triple Threat Winnipeg.  The girls and I spent all day Saturday and all day Sunday at the convention centre.  They: danced under the instruction of some of the best choreographers in the industry.  I, on the other hand kept busy walking from one room to the next watching them do what they do best.
Notice anything wrong with that 1st photo on the left?  haha.  Missed that one.
Darwin and I started the week with a Date Night at the Jets vs Predators game, where I finally got my Pavelec jersey.  My hubby bought it for me with a little bonus cash he earned at work, he's a keeper. You can barely tell that I have it on in the photo, haha.  This bottom photo on the right, has some Amy Tangerine stencil stitching on it, love that.  The blue you see next to it, is a smudged photo.  I no longer remember what I had stamped, but now it's gone.  I had used a Ranger's Ink thinking it would be smudge proof on my photo, but I was wrong.  Anyone have a good ink for stamping on photos they can recommend?

I'm happy to report I'm only 2 weeks behind in my album.  I actually prefer it that way, it gives me the freedom to use a Becky Higgins kit or a Sraptastic one when it arrives.  When I'm caught up I don't have that option.

Thanks for stopping in today friends.  I sure appreciate it. Pin It

Her Best Day Ever

Ever have an idea pop into your head for a layout design, and you just have to get it out asap?

I had the idea for this background on the way home from dropping the kids off at school on Thursday last week, and just had to come home and get it out.  Thanks to the lovely greyness of the skies here, and working Friday and Saturday, I was unable to get a photo of the layout until this afternoon when I got home from work.  I loved the Fall paper combinations, and colours in the November Scraptastic Home kit so much, I wanted to showcase them all at once on the same layout, and thought that something like this would be a great way to do it.
You can still see how completely thrilled she is to have opened her new 5c.
Pulled in some of the embellishments from the November This Life Noted kit, as well as the Add-On kit here also.  Really love the colours of the sequins this month.
Took the smile sentiment and used 3D foam tape to pop it off the page.
The brown letters were from the This Life Noted kit also.  And I typed the "14th birthday surprise" onto a scrap piece of cardstock, and popped it off the page, layered over top of one of the cardstock stickers in the kit.
We celebrated Belle's 14th birthday last Wednesday.  Belle was shocked when she opened this iPhone.  If there is anything we've learned as parents it is to never say never.  As much as we thought we would never buy our kids a phone, we certainly changed our tune.  With the amount of time this one is at school late, or out with friends, or late at the Dance Studio, we found it would certainly be worth the extra few dollars a month to be able to get ahold of her whenever we need to, and vice-versa.  All that to say we caved, and she's one happy girl.

Thanks for stopping by today friends.  I sure appreciate it.

*********
eta: my friend Nicole just posted these gorgeous layouts on the Scraptastic Blog today.  Seeing them again today, I remembered that she shared them on FB awhile back, when she first completed them.  As much as I thought the stitched triangles were my genius idea, I think my sub-conscience might have remembered seeing them on her project.  Bummer, I thought they were my idea, but she obviously used the idea first so I want to give credit where credit is due.  You can see more of Nicole's gorgeous work on her blog here.

Creative Scrappers Reveal

It's that time again.  Another reveal at Creative Scrappers is up today.

Here is my take on Jenny's cool sketch.
I used scraps of the School House Collection I had laying around from the last Chic Tags layout I created.
I think these Amy Tangerine Thickers may be my favourite ones ever.  I sticked through them allowing me to achieve the design I was after.
Isn't that wood grain paper so great?  I stitched the banner on, then layered a few Studio Calico wood veneer shapes onto it.  I also added a few Chic Tags gold star rub-ons around my journaling.  They are really great quality.  I love using them.

Here is Jenny's sketch.  Pretty funky right?!
We are lucky to have the Paper Issues girls joining us this reveal.  All this week they have been giving us plenty of inspiration to take in using this sketch.  Cassis has offered to sponsor us this month also.  Playing along with this sketch, or our previous sketch may get you a $30 gift certificate to the Paper Issues Shop.  There is so much to choose from in there, anyone would be thrilled to score this prize.
Hop over to the Creative Scrappers blog  to have a peek at the rest of the dt examples, and link up your take on the sketch for your chance at this month's prize.

Thanks for stopping in.  Enjoy your Sunday!

Moments In Between

October 13-19
I picked up a WeRMemory Keepers mini kit while we were down in the States in September.  It was a great deal at Target for $2.99.  I really like the colours, it's a bit of a change up from both the pastels and the brights I enjoy using in the Becky Higgins Project Life kits.  I'm an equal opportunist PL kit user, haha.
Kinda loving that number card I created with my Silhouette Cameo.  My friend Tara was kind enough to lend me her Amy Tan stitching template to play with.  You'll see a few cards coming up using it, it's a little addictive.
That photo of Isabelle with her cousins just warms my heart.  It's hard to believe how grown up they all are, and I'm so proud of the people they have become.

Thanks for popping in today friends,

Scraptastic Shares

I wanted to share a couple layouts that I had up over on the Scraptastic blog last week for Challenge Thursday.

First up is this one I made to remember our little Robin Family I had documented through my Instagram  account early this summer.
I just loved that chevron paper from the Crate Paper Close Knit collection.  I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to cut it apart and sew onto my background.
The challenge was to include a hidden element on your project.  Normally it would be journaling for me.  In this case, however I had some additional photos that I wanted to include on my layout.  The design I went with didn't allow for them to be exposed, so this was the perfect solution.

Just love those resin flowers from Fancy Pants designs

Next up is this layout featuring my babies.
The Jillibean polaroid frames are gorgeous.  The "always" frame had originally came blank.  I really wanted to create my title with the fames, so I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the word into it.  You'll notice it's just a little misaligned, and that font is just slightly different.  Oh well.  That gorgeous flair is from the A Flair For Buttons Etsy shop.  I just love the burlap flair sets.
This time my hidden tag included journaling only.  I added a little more interest to it by stamping it with the Never Tear Us Apart stamp set.
Again with the resin flower love.
To see more of what our dt and members created with the October Kit, have a look at the Gallery.  You can see current and past kits here.

As you can see I love to stitch on my layouts.  My machine gets plenty more of a workout on paper than it ever does on fabric, save for the alterations, and occasional costume projects the kids may need. My friends over at Scrapbook & Cards today have an amazing contest running right now where one lucky winner will walk away with a brand spanking new machine.  The very gracious people at Janome have offered to gift one lucky reader with a Juno J1218 machine.  This baby is gorgeous, and would totally expand my stitching options.  I'm linking up this post in hopes that I may be that lucky winner.  To see more details on the machine itself and the contest hop over here.

Thanks so much for popping in today friends, hope you're off to a great week.

Sunday Sketch

This girl is my favourite superhero, and also the subject of this week's Chic Tags sketch challenge.
Théa was so funny this one afternoon when I picked her up from school.  She went running ahead of me, abruptly stopped just beside the vehicle and struck these "Super Hero" poses.  Of course I had to make her do it all over again, stopping in between so I could snap a few photos to document her quirkiness.

I just love the Crisp Air patterned paper.  I looks so authentically water coloured.  Veronica really knocked it out of the park with this one.  I have tried my hand at water colour with no success and this is a great way to cheat at getting that look.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the word Superhero, out of a scrap piece of Carta Bella Christmas paper.  I thought the stars were perfect for the layout.  I offset it with a scrap piece of orange cardstock, so it could be better seen against the vellum covered Bliss patterned paper.

Here is the great sketch that Ashley created for us.
You can see that I stayed pretty true to the original sketch, making only a few minor alterations.  I hope you'll play along with us this week.  Linking up could win you a Chic Tags grab bag.  And remember you DO NOT have to use Chic Tags product to play, we love to see how you use our product, but don't want that to keep you from being able to link up with us.  Hop over to the Chic Tags blog to link up, and also to see how some of the other DT used the sketch. Chic Tags School House

I've got a post up at Chic Tags today for you.
This is the design that I started with.  It evolved, to include this little cluster.
Isn't that rub-on pencil cute?  Speaking of rub ons, I am such a fan of the Chic Tags rub ons.  I strongly suggest you give them a try.  After having given up on them years ago, because of poor quality, I am so pleased with these ones, they go on so smoothly and perfectly, making them fun to use once again.

Hop over to the Chic Tags blog to see the evolution and the finished design of this layout using the School House Collection exclusively.

Chic Tags November Kit

Happy Sunday friends,

Today, I want to show off the Exclusive November Chic Tags kit for you.  These kits are packed full of great little coordinating tags, stamps, and flair.  Perfect for Project Life style scrapping, but also great to use on regular scrapbook layouts.  Here's how I used my kit.
There are 2 tags added to this layout that are not in the kit (the woodgrain shipping tag, and the "today was awesome tag").  The mist is Heidi Swapp Color Shine.
As you can tell, I only used a fraction of the kit, and still have plenty of tags left for more creating.
Here is the kit in it's entirety, so many great pieces to add to your scrappy stash.
I suggest you pop over to the Chic Tags blog to have a peek at how some of the other DT used the kit. You can snag your own kit here before they run out.

Have a wonderful day friends, and thanks so much for stopping by today!

Checking In

Yes, I realize it's usually the reader who "checks in" and not, the blogger, but this is what it is today.  I apologize for not being around much lately.  I figure it's time to let you in on a little...well big change that has occurred in my life in the past 2 weeks.  I've gone back to work part time.  It is actually really part time only 3 days a week for 4 hours, but it is exactly a great fit for me, for my family.  A huge blessing from the Lord.  We've known for sometime that I would need to  go back to work part time, but it seemed almost impossible with the hours that I am available.  I've prayed that the Lord would be very clear in what I am suppose to be doing with my life right now.  We need the extra funds, but at the same time I need to be here to drop off and pick up the girls from school, and get them to dance.  It seemed impossible for anything to fit within those times.  Then Signature Cleaning services posted a ad for a part time office admin assistant.  The hours?  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30-1:30.  Late enough that I can drop the girls off in the morning, and early enough that I can pick them up from school.  I'm enjoying the job, and all the duties it entails, and really enjoy working for Joanna.  She has a very high standard of excellence for herself and her company, and loves processes that garner efficiency, and is constantly looking for better ways to measure the success of the company.  Most importantly she has a tender heart for the girls who work for her.

The fact that my most creative time has typically been between 11 am and 2 pm, being away during this time does cause a lull here on the blog.  I am all caught up on dt projects, and have several layouts complete and ready to share with you.  Just waiting for my posting dates at the various blogs to come around.  In the meantime how about a few sneaks?

First let me share a couple of complete layout I created for A Flair For Buttons recently.
Based of this sketch by Citrus Twist

The "lucky" cut file is by Kerri Bradford

And here are just a couple of sneaks of some upcoming projects.

This one will be up on Sunday with the Chic Tags November Kit feature

Another Chic Tags layout coming up next week

A Scraptastic Club layout coming up soon

Another Scraptastic Layout that I can't wait to share

I also have 2 Moments In Between Layouts to share, but they've not been photographed yet.

Hopefully the sneaks will tie you over for a few days.  Thank you for sticking with me.  Hoping to find my rhythm of working during my usual crafty time soon.  On another note, I am really looking forward to our weekend road trip with Théa.  Just the 3 of us, as we take her to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to attend the Triple Threat Dance Convention.  The other 2 will get to hang out with Ma & Pa for the weekend.

Thanks bunches for stopping by today, I'll be back on Sunday with that Chic Tags post.
