Ringing in 2014

Happy New Year's Eve friends!

Today I celebrate 18 years with this guy.
Our favourite pass time: cheering on the Winnipeg Jets
We've had our share of the awesome, and the not-so-awesome of marriage, but at the end of the day we are good together.  We make eachother better.  We get eachother.  We have fun.  We play hard.  We have 3 beautiful girls together.  And all together we fill our home with loud voices, lots of laughs, and loads of love for all we've been blessed with.  It is in all honesty that I say I look forward to another 18+ years with this guy.  My life just wouldn't be the same without him.  I have been richly blessed.

Wishing you a Happy New Year tonight.  Be safe, and have fun ringing in 2014!

I'll be back tomorrow to share my top 13 layouts of 2013.  See you then! Pin It

Just Sharing

Happy Friday friends!

I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday.  Hopefully, many of you are still holiday-ing.  We had a wonderful time here with our little family.  Church service, an evening with family and games, a family gathering, and three very "happy with their presents" girls here, make that 4 if you include me, haha.  I just love this time of year.  Unfortunately I'm back to work already.  It's the first time in 8 years that I've had to work over Christmas and I'll be honest, it's taking some getting use to.  Thankfully I enjoy my job, makes everything that much easier.

I thought I'd take some time today to share with you a couple of layouts I've had up around the blogosphere lately.

First up is this one using some of my favourite Fancy Pants Designs papers, and the gorgeous Water Colour Flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons.

Here is a close up of the Water Color flair:

Next is this one that I created for Chic Tags using the Good Tidings Collection, and another AFFB flair.
Numbers and Letters Flair
This one was created using the Scraptastic Home For the Holidays kit.

The last share is the first page of my December Moments album.  It's the same idea as a December Daily only modified as I knew I would not only NOT be able to capture a photo everyday, but I also would not be able to keep up with completing it on a daily basis....so December Moments it is.  I used my sewing machine to sew extra pockets up top so that I would be able to have a sequin/star/flair/snowflake pocket.
#Winter Flair
If you are way ahead of the game and already planning your New Year's Eve/day pages you should check out the brand new flair Shelley has created.

Lastly, if you managed to make it to the end of this post, and you entered my giveaway on this post I have good news for you.  I've not heard back from the winner, so rather than go through all the work of writing down and drawing a new name, I'm simply going to offer it to the first person to leave me a comment saying they are interested.  If you want it, and you're quick, it's yours.  Leave me your name and your email addy, and you may just be hearing from me later today.  I really don't want this fab kit to go to waste.  As a bonus I'll even throw in the Add-On kit for you.  That's a sweet prize, hope I'll be sending it out to someone soon.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Here's hoping you've been inspired to create something wonderful soon!

Winner, Winner

Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by my blog and enter the giveaway.  I especially loved hearing how everyone documents Christmas.  Seems to be split down the middle with December Daily type albums and and assortment of layout ideas.  I kind of like the idea some of you do, in keeping all the Christmases in one album.  It would be fun to see the transformation from year to year of people, gifts, and home decor.

Once again a big thank you to Jessica from Scraptastic for sponsoring this giveaway.  I had 26 entries, including doubles and in some cases triple entries for those who shared on Facebook as well as Instagram.

The lucky winner according to Random Generator dot Org is.......

Big congrats Kristin.  This is all yours...

Please email me your snail mail to sherrifunk@gmail.com so I can get it off to Jessica, and she'll get your goodies out to you asap.  If I do not hear back from you by Friday, December 27 I will draw a new winner.

Thanks again everyone for playing along.  Be sure to follow me on Instagram.  I'll have a second giveaway before the end of the year.

Creative Scrappers Reveal

Good morning friends,

It's that time again.  I was lucky to work with another fabulous sketch this week at Creative Scrappers.   I chose a photo of Darwin and I at our last Winnipeg Jets hockey game together.  Never in a million years, as a young adult would I have thought that I would love watching this sport as much as I do.  I can remember working with crazy Jets fans, die hard fans even during the many years the team was away in Phoenix.  And now, I'm proud to say I'm one of them.

Here is the layout I created for this week's reveal, using the new Echo Park Keeping Cozy collection.

Those white alphas are by BasicGrey, and I believe one of the oldest items in my stash.  It's one of the reasons I love playing with sketches so much, it allows me to use any product I choose.  It's a great way to use up your scrappy stash.  Sketches like this one are especially great for helping to use up scraps you've been saving too.
That awesome flair is from this set in the A Flair For Buttons Etsy shop.
The freebie snowflake file is from Daniela Dobson.
Since I didn't leave myself any room to journal inside the squares, I substituted the dotted lines in the sketch with some handwriting, and included some prima alphas to help the subject of my journaling stand out from the rest.

And this is the fab sketch Jenny created for us to work with.
There are some really great takes on the sketch.  Be sure to hop over the the Creative Scrappers blog to see how the rest of the dt used it.  You'll also have until December 31, to link up a project using this sketch, and/or sketch #257, for your chance at awesome Twinery gift certificate.

On my blog, don't forget that you have a few more hours to get on my Scraptastic Giveaway.  You may still enter for a few more hours here.  Good luck to all.

I also want to take this time to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and all the best for a wonderful holiday season.  I'll be back after the holidays with more scrahappiness to share.

Sketchy Thursday with Scraptastic & a Giveaway

It's that time of the month at Scraptastic...when Susan inspires us to think outside our comfort zone and work with one of her her sketches.  I really loved this months' sketch, it was so easy to work with and allowed me to use several of the gorgeous papers in the Home For The Holidays Main kit, as well as the stamp set.
silhouette cut file by Juliana Michaels
This kit is gorgeous, perfect for this time of year.  The Fancy Pants Merry Little Christmas collection is my favourite Christmas Collection, and paired with Teresa Collins, Echo Park, and Carta Bella it's all that much more beautiful.
Embossed one of the stamps in the set and used red glitter Zing, the green tree is also from the set.
I raised the letters off the page using 3D tape.

Aren't those ornament wood veneers the cutest?!
And how about an early Christmas gift for you?  Jessica has graciously offered me both the kit and stamp set to give away to one lucky person.  She will even take care of the shipping, she's that great!
All of this, could be on it's way to you to scrap your own Christmas/holiday memories.

Glitz Cross Promo #3

The Chic Tags, Glitz Design product swap was pretty great.  The two products mixed together so well, creating was easy.  Here is my last project creating using the two Christmas collections.

At this time of year, I love sitting in the dark with nothing but the Christmas lights on.  It almost makes the entire headache of putting the lights up in the first place worth it, haha.

I cut the popular Christmas poem quote using my Silhouette Cameo.  The strip of red is actually part of the fab ribbon that Cassie, from Paper Issues wraps all her packages in.  Super easy to reuse/recycle.

You can see more combo creations by the Chic Tags girls here, and the Glitz girls here.

Thanks for stopping by today friends!

Chic Tags & Glitz Design

Our team at Chic Tags paired up with Glitz Design this month for a product swap.  A few of us got to play around with their Hello December collection.  The colours were a perfect match for our Good Tidings collection.  Here are 2 of my 3 projects:
First up is this tin I altered to fill with Christmas goodies for the girls' piano teacher.
Christmas music is one of my favourite things about the season.  As soon as December 1st hits the tunes come out in full force.  I thought it might be fun to document a few of my favourite cds.  That wood grain paper is so divine.  I wish I could have a pack of it.  The starts are printed directly onto the paper.  I've placed a couple of gold rub-ons over top, but I just love this sheet, and see what I mean about the two collections matching perfectly?!

There are way more fabulous projects to see up on the Chic Tags blog as well as the Glitz Design blog. I think both teams did a fabulous job mixing and matching the two collections.  For you chance at the entire Good Tiding Collection from Chic Tags hop over here and leave a comment.  And there's also a Glitz Hello December Collection up for grabs here.

Thanks for stopping by today friends, I'll have the last of my projects to share with you next week. Pin It

Creative Scrappers - Sketch #257

It's a fabulous day for a reveal wouldn't you say?  Creative Scrappers has a new sketch for you to play with this week.  Here is my take on it using Fancy Pants, one of my new favourite manufacturers.
This is Eden and her little buddy Sarah immediately after after Sarah's crafty/dancey birthday party. They were getting a little nutty with the bling.  Of course being me, I had to snap a few photos.  I love that they 'get' each other.
the star is a Chic Tags rub-on, and the flair is A Flair For Buttons
The sketch was so simple, and easy it felt a little weird to not add a bunch of layers and embellishments, but it did feel great to complete the layout so quickly.  That's the best thing about sketches, and the Creative Scrappers challenge site.  They allows you to experiment with designs that are out of your usual area of comfort.
And here is Kristine's original sketch.  You can see that all I did was flip it to the left.

Our sponsor this month is The Twinery.

And they have a fabulous prize pack up for grabs from one lucky winner.  The winner is drawn at random and you may enter as many projects as you'd like, the only requirement is that we can still see the original sketch in your creation.  Hop over here to get all the details and see all the scrappy goodness our DT came up with for you this month.  And don't forget to link us up on Instagram and Pinterest, we love to see your work on the web, and you never know you might just be our featured layout.

Thanks so much for popping in today.  Happy Sunday.  I'm most looking forward to getting our Christmas tree today.  I just doesn't feel like Christmas yet, decorating and adding that wonderful Christmasy scent to the house will quickly change all that. Pin It

The Lovely Miss Jody

I created this layout for the A Flair For Buttons blog a while back.  Thought I'd share it with all of you here too.  I used the gorgeous Fall Themed October Scraptastic Kit.
Miss Jody has been such a source of inspiration for Théa, without her passion for teaching and challenging the kids the way she does, I'm not sure that Théa's love for Tap Dance would have ever evolved to the level it is.

Journaling reads: Miss Jody - by her passion & humour and plain love for the discipline ignited a passion for Tap in Théa.  The girl is forever tapping: at the sink, while brushing her teeth, in her desk while working, in the shower!  Everywhere...I just love to watch her little feet make music.  I will be forever grateful to this great teacher.
I added a little visual interest to my background by stitching diagonal lines across the white cardstock, and misting a little over top of my mini chicken wire mask.  The quote I used I discovered on Pinterest somewhere (sorry I forgot to save the link for credit).
Hope you're feeling inspired to go and create something great.  You can see more of the Lovely Words sets in the shop here.

Thank you so much for stopping by today friends!

Scraptastic Club's This Life Noted Kits

I have 2 Scraptastic pages to share with you today.  The first is from the October This Life Noted Kit
This has been my favourite kit to date.  I just loved the colours in this one.
I created that "love" frame on the bottom right using my Silhouette Cameo.
Notice that date card?  It was my favourite card in the kit, it has this cool linen look to it.  I also loved that like all of the cards in the kit  it is double sided. (all This Life Noted cards have BOTH landscape and portrait orientation)
I had originally glued the arrow to the wrong week on the card, but because it's double sided my error was quickly corrected simply by flipping card over and starting again.
My next page is using the November This Life Noted kit.
Another great colour combo in this one.
Used the stamp in the kit to create the hearts on that bottom left card.  Same with the zig zags, and tiny hearts on the cards below.

Pulled a couple of alphas from previous kits to complete my title, and secured all the alphas by stitching them to the cards.  Also pulled in a couple of pieces for the Home Add On Kit, and one tag from my stash on this page.
Using kits makes the documenting process fast and enjoyable.  I used to use just my scraps to create my Moments In Between album.  This is so much faster, as everything is already colour coordinated and prettied up for you.  All you need to do is add your photos (and if your like me a few ebellies too), and you're done.  You can see what's coming up for December's kits here.  They are Ah-Mazing, I can't wait to receive mine.  This is the first month where I could not decide which kit to go with, so I chose both :)

Have a great day friends, and thanks for stopping by!
