Creative Scrappers Reveal

It's that time again!  Another reveal is live over at Creative Scrappers.
My apologies for the less than stellar photo
I just adore this photo of the girls dressed in their Hip Hop costume before taking the stage at CNDC this past spring for their competition.  They look so much like twins, don't you think?  And their expression is hilarious, hence the title of the layout.  They think they look so hard core, haha.
I created the background using my Silhouette and a Silhouette store purchased file.
I moved the cluster from the bottom right of the sketch to the top left
This pennant cluster came in the ephemera package of the Crate Paper The Pier collection.
Here is the great sketch we had to work with.
Wanna play along with us?  Hop over to the Creative Scrappers Blog to see how the rest of the team interpreted the sketch, and check out our sponsor info.  You have until October 31st to link up your newly made creation here to qualify for the monthly prize. Did you know you can also share your creations with us on our Facebook Page, and even on Instagram by tagging #CSsketches.  We love to see your work.  NB: winners will ONLY be selected from layouts linked up to the blog post using the Inlinkz tool, so be sure to link up there too.  Be sure to pop over to the blog to see how the rest of the team interpreted the sketch.  I am so lucky to work with such a talented bunch!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friend!  May you live in an increasing awareness of all that you have been blessed with, in the good, the bad, and all the moments in between.

Missing Summer

It's a grey, cold, rainy, windy, and all around less than spectacular weather day here in Winnipeg.  A perfect day to share some fun summer Moments In Between album pages, I say.
I've had this collection by Simple Stories for 3 summers, and barely cut into it.  It was so pretty, I just wanted to keep it in pristine condition.  I did share a layout I created with it back in the middle of summer.  After that, I decided that I was put all those pretty papers and stickers to good use and create some MIB pages with them.  I just love the fun feel they have to them.

Left Side
I created the "enjoy" and "love" frames with my silhouette.

 Right Side
The Selena Gomez concert was definitely a highlight for us, but more for Emblem 3, than for her.
And check this out....
You can get your digital (or a paper copy, while supplies last) for only $6 right now.  These books are loaded with great sketches, and fabulous takes on them by designers from all over the world.  To get yours just hop over here.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone! Pin It

Picture Perfect

Happy Friday Friends!

This week I celebrated my one year anniversary with Chic Tags.  And thought it would be fun to document the occasion using our brand new Happy Place Collection, and a photo from my CHA experience.
I was fortunate enough to be able to use some frequent flyer points to fly down to Vegas for the event. It was like a dream come true meeting Veronica in person, and helping out in the booth introducing CHA goes to Chic Tags products, and meeting so many great people from all around the world.  An added bonus was meeting fellow DT member Malika and connecting with several Instagram friends in person for the first time, like Chiao Tan pictured here.

One of the biggest hits with our new collections is the clear tags.  I've used 2 on my layout and adhered them both by holding them in place with just a teeny bit of adhesive, and them sewing around the inner border.  Love the way it turned out.  I used this idea of "happy" to create the design of my layout.  To me, all the circles give the layout a happy feel.

The Happy Place collection includes 8 - 3x4 journaling style cards, perfect for both traditional layouts, and project life style scrapping.

I think my favourite thing about the new collections are these mini icons, and the perforated strips at the bottom of the 12x12 papers.  I love the little sayings and sentiments, and the fact that they are pre-set to different styles, like this "good times" one shown here.  All I had to do was use some 3D foam dots to pop it off the page, easy peasy.

Hope you've been inspired to create something great today.  Come back on Sunday for our next Creative Scrappers reveal.   Have a wonderful day friends. Pin It

Stick Together

As promised here is the last of my layouts created with the We Are Family Kit by Scraptastic Kit Club.
Such a fun combination of colours, that I don't think I would have thought to pull together on my own.

Hard to believe this photo is 6 months old.  Crop and Create - Winnipeg was such a great time. Catherine and her team put on an incredible weekend for scrappers to come, learn from well known, super talented teachers, hang with friends, and eat like royalty.  There are a ton of prizes throughout the weekend, and of course the highly coveted "pink bag" full of goodies for each person in attendance.  I first joined my friend Nicole for one in Saskatoon last November, and was immediately hooked.  The atmosphere, the food, the people, the prizes....they sucked me in.  So I convinced 7 of my friends to join me for the April event here in Winnipeg.  We had a blast.  It was also the first time I was able to meet the super sweet Kristine Davidson of Creative Scrappers, would you believe she flew all the way from New Brunswick to join us?!  She's awesome like that.  Because Jody, Tara, and I all had a connection to her through the world wide web, we thought it only appropriate to get a few pix in the trademark photo booth.  (I have more photos from that booth with the rest of my peeps for the life of me, I could not make the layout work with all of them, so I removed the 2 smaller photos and just stuck with the larger one, another layout will follow with the others.)  Can't wait for April, so we can do it all over again.

Our Story

Happy Monday friends,

What a gorgeous weekend we had here in Winnipeg.  Yesterday was the most perfect day to get outside and take some photos after church.

Here are just a couple of my favourites.

This is one of probably a mere 5 photos of just the 2 of us this year.  Glad it turned out.
The October kit from Scraptastic is on it's way, and I can't wait for it to arrive.  Every month Jessica outdoes the previous month, and this kit is no exception.  The Never Tear Us  Apart kit is so gorgeous, and full of warm Fall colours, it kinda makes me want to pull out the comfy sweaters and boots already.

You can check out the Add On Kits and Stamp Sets here
I thought I would share with you another layout that I completed with the September We Are Family kit, and stamp set today.

The photo is one I took of Belle and a few of her friends just after they performed Dreamer.  It was the most beautiful Lyrical number I've seen their group perform.  It brought tears to my eyes all 4 or 5 times I saw it danced.  The girls were beautiful, and so in unison, and the music was so moving.  A really incredible piece that earned them Gold every time.

I have one more layout from September to share with you.  In total I completed 4 layouts, one Moments In Between spread, and one card with the kit, and I have enough scraps left over to complete one more week for my Moment's In Between Album, I'm sure.  Great kits, great value, fun forum, and a gallery to show off your creations....all waiting for you at Scraptastic.  We'd love for you to pop over, and join in on the fun.

October Already?!

Happy first day of October (ouch, it pains me to even type that).

I'm starting to wonder if I will ever feel completely rested ever again.  September has already come and gone, and here we are well on our way to true Fall like temperatures, windy days, and Thanksgiving right around the corner (well in Canada anyway)

It has been a busy and tiring start to the school year.  I feel tired so early these days.  It's 9:30 pm right now and I am ready for bed.  Blogging as not been nearly as often as I'd like, but I'm trying friends.  I have several layouts completed for DT assignments, and I'm all caught up with my Moments In Between Album, so I really do have work to share with you, it's just the blogging about it that is hard to fit in.  I hope you'll bear with me.

I received Shelley's gorgeous flair buttons the other day, and cannot wait to start incorporating them into my pages.  I started with my first one this past weekend.  Remember the quick trip to Minneapolis to watch the Vikings play, that I told you about here?  Well I used the September We Are Family Kit from Scraptastic Club to scrap it out.

The Button is from the Go, Go, Go set at A Flair For Buttons.  Super cute right?  The set is actually a travel set, but worked perfectly for my sports themed page.
Used my EK Sucess Label Maker and some of the Teresa Collins Family Stories embellies here.
Added a little more dimension to the page by layering and popping this little "true story" icon off my page with Pop Up Glue Dots.
Totally broke out of my mould on this one.  What started as a clean grid with 4 2x2 photos ended up being way more fun and festive than I had anticipated, totally fitting to the theme.  There's a lot of journaling, I'm not going to retype it here as I usually do.  You can click on the photo to enlarge it if you're interested.  It's basically the story as I described it in the post a few days back.

Thanks for stopping by today friends.
